Special edition: Ellas cantan | Female voices in Tango,Jessica Gerdel,"abrazatango@gmail.com, contact@jessicagerdel.com","Neubaugürtel 7, 1150",(Pre-register by email),"#8M means visibility. A reminder of women's rights and roles in society. If you've been in Tango for a while, you might have realized already that most tangos we dance at milongas are sang by men.In many spaces it's even still alive the idea that ""Tango is macho"".Nevertheless, there are many women singing Tango. Their songs just have gotten less visibility in the community.Same happens to the recordings of this century. We're so attached to dance only the classics that most tango communities end up overlooking the new tangos (which are not necessarily electrotango, btw). This Práctica contributes in this regard, giving room every week to both orchestras of the XXI century and female voices. And this Sunday we take the occasion of the #8M International Women's Day to play only female voices during the whole Práctica. PS. Please bring a valid negative result (PCR or antigen). Ask me if you don't know where to get it on time, there are testboxes open on Sundays too. ***#8M significa visibilidad. *** Did you know that Tango Argentino has its own codes and dynamics that seem to hide from the untrained eye? Tango Argentino is social. A direct flight to the present moment. To a deeper connection with yourself and with others. Tango creates community.Getting into Tango Argentino is like entering a microcosm. The milongas (as we call the events where tango is danced), more than by the physical space, are defined by the dynamics that take place there, by the people coming together to share a common passion: dancing Tango. They have their own codes and traditions, which are not easily noticeable by outsiders and newcomers. One of the purposes of this Práctica is to offer a friendly and less formal environment than a traditional milonga for you to learn and get familiar with those codes while practicing and socializing with others, helping you gain confidence in your dance and opening room to make new friends. You're very welcome to join us every Sunday from 20:00 to 22:00, just a few meters from Westbahnhof metro and train station. As the Práctica is not structured like a class you can come and go as you please, although of course I encourage you to come early to make the most of the time to practice and have fun ;)Come as you are: On your own, with a dancing partner, with friends, beginner or more experienced… All combinations are welcome!By attending the previous class (Fundamentals II, at 18:30) or if you're a regular student in my other courses, you get at a reduced entry fee of €5.Other attendants: €8In these times we continue to work under prior reservation in order to be able to track the number of participants. Sign up via email or message on Facebook/Instagram: AbrazatangoIf you're new to Tango join us in the courses for beginners:· Monday at 18:00 (near metro stations U4/U6-Längenfeldgasse and U6-Gumpendorfer Str.)· Sunday at 16:30 (near U4-Schönbrunn)Or choose the time of your convenience in private classes.PS. As the number of infections remains high and includes recently vaccinated people, I kindly ask you to take a PCR or antigen test before each class/Práctica and show results upon arrival. This way we take additional care of each other and contribute to reducing the spread of the virus. There are multiple options in Vienna to take a test easily and for free even on Sunday. Ask me if you don't know how.Looking forward to meeting you!!JessicaPS2. Remember to register via email or msg on Facebook/Instagram: Abrazatango*****El Tango Argentino es social.
