Neither from an erudite locked in a room to create the ultimate tango guide so the rest of the world could learn the dance.Tango Argentino is a popular dance.Regular people created it.It evolved in time to what we know now, and it was systematized with pedagogical purposes. It doesn't mean it's stagnant.Tango is alive and dynamic. Everyone can create new sequences.Yes, you too.How much room does improvisation have in your dance?(I'm assuming you know that Tango Argentino is an improvised dance. In case you're starting your path on this dance, the Argentine Tango that's common to watch in videos, movies and performances that include acrobacies and exaggerated movements is usually choreographed, made to show off. Different from the social tango salón that the tango communities in Buenos Aires share and enjoy on a daily basis). For improvisation to happen there has to be a good foundation on the knowledge and embodiment of the technique but even more important: room for play and experimentation. Openness for exploration and for being “wrong” (let's just state here that there are no wrongs in tango, we can talk further about it if you like). This is a Práctica with the spirit of a Práctica. If you're new to tango I'll guide you on the social codes of Tango Argentino so when you go to milongas don't feel lost nor spoil the party. But this isn't a milonga.Expect a relaxed atmosphere with room for play, exploration and creation. To build trust in your body and your movements, so you can refine how you communicate them.(Spoiler alert: Without that trust there's no pure improvisation possible either)(Yes, it also improves your overall trust in yourself in other areas of life)And of course this Práctica has the spirit of our Abrazatango Sunday's Práctica:You might know it already – Or not. There are plenty of female tango singers and contemporary orchestras playing tango (not talking about electro fusions). Here you find them. Why a Socken Práctica? (it means we dance in socks)We get the fetish of the shoes when entering the tango world, I know. I love them too and bought more high heels for tango than I ever used in my entire life out of the dance.Do you really need them? Test it if you haven't.I could start a treatise here on how getting out of the famous comfort zone helps people grow, although no need to appeal to it.There are much simpler reasons.Dancing without shoes actually trains your awareness of the supports of the feet, your balance and your transfers of weight. Want to practice the most complex sacadas? Go on free of fear of killing your partner's leg. ContactTango? Be welcome.Needless to say, roles are free here. Dance what you like and with whom you like. Respect and mutual consent are the only musts.Join us on this Práctica of 6 Mondays (from April 18th to May 23rd). From 19:15 to 22:00 at Sechshauser Straße 48/2 (1. Stock at the end of the hall). Until 20:00 pay as you wish. Later: €10Want to support with more?
